How difficult are the kits to fit?
This is our most asked question - it solely depends on whether the person(s) fitting the kit has experience with working on vehicles. For example with door lighting kits it requires removing the door card, adding an additional wiring harness, fitting the lights and replacing the door card.
All our kits and instructions have been developed by us since 2007 to enable anyone with basic DIY knowledge to fit the kits, most of our instructions are step by step with images guiding through from start to finish the process.
We manufacture our door wiring harnesses to have our unique 'Splice-Free' joint so that no splicing of wires is required.
Do the kits come with instructions?
Most of our kits come with step by step instructions with images, these are supplied once a purchase has been made and will be sent in .pdf format via email.
Do control modules require coding?
Yes coding of the control module(s) is required to activate most lighting kits as our kits are wired into the correct control module as factory specification. Some of our kits do not require coding for example, glovebox lighting kits, piggyback lighting kits - if you are unsure please contact us for confirmation.
Coding can be carried out using VCDS, OBD11 and in some cases Carista. Please note that we only use VCDS to perform coding and all our coding guides are based on VCDS, we cannot support with any coding queries using OBD11 or Carista.
I don't have VCDS (VAGCOM), what can I do?
If you don't have VCDS or are not confident with coding modules please contact us as we have a number of coders in the UK who can carry out both coding and fitting services or a large number of our customers use OBD11 which is much cheaper to purchase.
How do I know if the kits will fit my car?
All kits are made specifically to suit your car, please ensure the correct vehicle is selected when an order is placed. If unsure please contact us.
Do you offer a fitting service?
Yes a fitting service is available, we are based in Cheshire and are fully insured to undertake any fitting of the kits we supply. We also have a number of companies that we have teamed up with who can offer a fitting and coding service using our kits, please contact us for details.
Will I be able to control the lights with the MMI unit?
As all our kits are wired into the control modules in the same way as they would be if they were fitted as a factory fitted option, any features you have on the MMI unit will work however this does depends on the software level installed on the MMI unit - advanced coding may be required for additional features.
Can I set it so that the footwell lights stay on all the time?
If this feature is available on the control module then yes this is possible. If not, then the lights will switch off when the car is started. We do not recommend that the wiring is wired directly to the ignition to keep the lights on as this could over heat the wiring and the light housings.
Can you supply puddle lights with logos?
Yes we do supply logo puddle lights but we only supply genuine Audi OEM lights as we are yet to source high quality reliable aftermarket logo lights.
How long does an order take to arrive?
We dispatch orders on a daily basis however during busy periods it may take us 3-4 days to process your order but please be assured that we will be doing everything we can to dispatch your order as soon as possible.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes, shipping charges will be applied at check out. All import custom charges incurred are to be paid by the customer, Rocket Wires LTD do not have any influence on these charges.
Do you make custom looms or other types of looms?
Yes we can make custom looms but we will require some additional information from you with regards to what your requirements are, please contact us for more details.
Do you make kits for other VAG brands?
Yes we can, please contact us with your requirements.
What is your refund policy?
Our main aim is to ensure that the customer is happy with the product that we have supplied and that it operates to your expectation. If you do have any issues with fitting then please contact us and we will do every thing we can to help.
We have spare Honda S2000* and Renault Megane Mk2** steering wheels in stock which we will retrim to your preferred specification, once completed we will send this wheel out to you and once you have fitted it to your vehicle you will then be required to send us your old wheel.
*£100 surcharge for this service which is fully refunded to you once we receive your old wheel.
***£40 surcharge for this service which is fully refunded to you once we receive your old wheel.
Although both wheels are interchangeable there is a small design change in the spline orientation so the wheel will sit off-centre therefore we have both types of steering wheels as spares.
Some customers prefer to keep their original steering wheel rather than use one of our spare wheels, this is not a problem, we would require you to send us your wheel for retrim, this will mean that you will be without a steering wheel for approximately 3-4 weeks in total depending on current demand.
Customers are welcome to buy another wheel and have it delivered to us directly for a retrim.
Occasionally we do have customers who prefer to keep their old wheel for when they sell the vehicle at a later date, we can accommodate this however there will be a charge for the spare wheel that you will be keeping and this price depends on the price of a replacement wheel based on what is available at the time.
Generally we aim to have a wheel retrimmed and ready for dispatch in 10 working days from the date of order. This depends on the current demand and whether we have a spare wheel available - once an order has been made we will contact you to inform you of delivery date.
Delivery for gaiters and armrest is 5 working days.
Once an order has been made for a retrimmed armrest we will be in contact via email with the address which you need to send your armrest to.
